HFCU Donates in Support of Education for Pregnant Teens

Hartford Federal Credit Union has donated $1,000 to the Joan C. Dauber Food Bank at St. Francis Hospital. The funds will be used to help provide diapers to teen mothers. The Food Bank provides diapers and other essential resources to teen mothers struggling to balance childcare with completing their high school education.

Teenage mothers are among the highest risk for not graduating high school. According to the CDC, only 50% of teen mothers receive a high school diploma by the age of 22. Having a high school degree is essential to acquiring and maintaining employment and key to long-term success.
