How to Join

Becoming a member is easy. All you have to do is deposit and maintain a balance of $50 in a Main Share savings account at HFCU. You are then eligible to apply for any product or service we offer. Membership is available to you for a lifetime so whether you move out of Hartford, Tolland, or Middlesex County, change jobs, or retire, your membership can remain with Hartford Federal Credit Union, as long as you maintain your main share account with a $50 minimum.

To become a member, please visit one of our branches. You can start the process ahead of time by filling out our online application or by printing and filling out our membership application.

Call or stop by for your membership kit or print and complete the membership application available online and drop it off at one of our conveniently located branches. We are required by law to verify identification when opening a new account.

Eligibility

Membership is available to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the Capitol, Lower Connecticut River Valley, or Northwest Hills Planning Regions, or the towns of Bethlehem, Bristol, Plymouth, Thomaston, Union, Watertown, and Woodbury, Connecticut. These areas were formerly known as the majority of Litchfield, Hartford, Middlesex, and Tolland Counties.

In addition, immediate family members and people in the same economic household of an existing member are eligible for membership. Immediate family includes parents, children, spouse, siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren.
