Protect Yourself from Fraud and Scams

Hartford Federal Credit Union continues to make it easier to manage your money, including digital wallet access for HFCU debit cards and the upcoming launch of Zelle® within Online and Mobile Banking. As these enhancements roll out, we encourage members to stay alert for fraud attempts and protect their personal information.

Unfortunately, fraudsters often target members during new technology rollouts, when they may be more likely to expect communications from their financial institution. Recently, some members received calls appearing to come from HFCU that were actually from scammers. These attempts were not the result of any security issue or breach at Hartford Federal Credit Union.

Hartford Federal Credit Union will never contact you and request your:

  • Account number
  • Debit card number, expiration date, CVV (security code), or PIN
  • Online Banking username or password
  • Security or multi-factor authentication codes

If you receive an unexpected call, text, or email requesting this information, do not respond. Even if the number appears legitimate, it may be spoofed.

If you are ever unsure whether a communication is truly from Hartford Federal Credit Union, hang up and contact us directly using the phone number on our website or on your account materials.

If you believe you may have provided information to a scammer, please contact us immediately so we can assist. Thank you for helping protect your accounts and for your continued trust in Hartford Federal Credit Union.
